Medical Politics
Today, my wife had an “episode” where she lost some feeling on her left side. Yes, she’s doing great and thank you for asking.
The problem is with the way everything was handled.
After rushing my wife to the closest medical facility, they said they were not equipped to handle what could be a stroke patient. So, they promptly called 911 and an ambulance (fire department) come with lights a-blazing. They insisted that she had to be taken to the ER, STAT!
The assbulance arrived and after sitting with my wife for two minutes, I was pulled out of the room. Moron number one proceeds to tell me, “Your wife’s vitals are fine and there is no need for us to rush her to the ER. You can take her, we can take her, but either way they are going to sit her in a waiting room when they see she’s in her current state with no immediate issue.”
So, the medical clinic says there is an emergency, the ambulance says no need to rush.
Now knowing no one is in a rush to help my wife with a numb left side, I took her to our primary care doctor, who was livid! After ordering her a MRI at the closest diagnostic center (had her in within 20 minutes) he said, “Someone is going to lose their job for this!”
Here’s my issue. . . one company was covering their rear end and another was disengaged from the whole situation and all the while, my 25 year old wife is scared and worrying that she may not be able to hug her 2 year old son that night.
Don’t ever get it twisted, those in the medical industry are about money and self perseverance. It isn’t about the patient, it’s about the wallet. Screw it, let’s go to socialized medicine… at least we know politicians are trying to screw us!
